11:14 am - R. I. P. Valeska Niedzwiecki Last night, at about 3am, my grandmother passed away. She would have been one hundred years old in April.
When I hear the word "matriarch," I invariably think of her. With her no-nonsense attitude and perpetual sense of humor, she kept her corner of the Niedzwiecki clan together, not with a stern word and an iron fist, but with a chuckle and a well-aimed witticism. She was sharp up until the very end, doing what she wanted how she wanted to do it. We should all be so lucky to live a life as full as hers on our own terms.
Rest in peace, Machute. You will be missed terribly.

She also had impeccable taste in baseball teams, right?
I'm very sorry, hon. I'm pretty sure i already was in the red in the liquor category, but i definitely owe you a beer.

Damn skippy. She was alive for six of their World Series wins and could remember more than two of them, which really was something.
You also have my condolences.
I'm so sorry to hear. Let me know if you need anything.
I am very sorry to hear about your loss. My condolences to you and yours. Let me know if you need anything I can possibly provide.
Sounds like quite a lady. Was she the same grandmother that we met at your wedding? I'm very sorry for your loss. Stop by any time this weekend should you feel inclined.

No, actually. You met my mother's mother, who is still very much alive and kicking in her mid-80s.
I'm very sorry for your loss. She sounds like a great person to be related to.

My condolences.
So, "my condolences" sounds a little over-played, but .... yeah.

I know how you feel. My maternal grandmother passed away this year and it sounds like the two of them were a matched set. 'Dolences.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know losing a grandparent can be hard, because you have to simultaneously grieve and support your parent in their grief. I wish you and your family the best.
I'm sorry to hear that. I'll give you a hug in a few weeks, I hope.

Sounds like she led an long and interesting life. My thoughts to all of you left behind, but she will be having a blast doing whatever comes next.

That sucks, and I'm sorry to hear it.
She sounds like a wonderful person, very inspiring...my grandmother lived with us for several years until she passed away, she was also perpetually sassy and winsome, it was a great inspiration for how to grow old with style...I'm sorry to hear about your loss, let me know if you need anything...or even just want to tell grandmother stories over a drink.
Requiescat in pace. It sounds like she lived a great life and touched a lot of people.

She had a great life and i will not forget how wonderful she was to me as she reminisced with me at my Dad's wake. We were lucky to have gotten the opportunity to spend the day with her at your party. I came online to see if i could find information as to the arrangements for her this week, but i believe it Divine intervention that i also got this opportunity to send my condolensces and reminisce a bit myself.

I don't think I could add anything to what you wrote--you describe her perfectly . . . and just when I thought I wouldn't cry again today. You really got me with the Machute. I will see you soon, Kyle and I look forward to it, though the circumstances aren't the best. I love you! Rachael
Peace to you and yours, and I hope that this time is filled with all the memories and blessings of her life.
