07:47 am - Unemployed Again
As of this morning, my erstwhile employer filed Chapter 11. I am thus out of work. No, I don't really have more information than that quite yet. Likely, I'll be diving into a rather frenetic job search process now.

In actuality, they were a lot better human beings about it than they could have been. Technically, they didn't have to make sure our paychecks went through today. Technically, they could have locked the door such that what remained of my stuff was auctioned off.

It sure sucks, but the management team were only about 20% of the dicks they could have been.

Honestly, while I may default to some sort of retail stopgap measure, I'm going to hunt for a tech job for now. Thanks for the suggestion, however.

I will, of course, offer the typical sympathies of that sucking a lot and hoping you find something soon.

I don't know if it would necessarily be useful to you at all but, if you ever want any info on their bankruptcy itself I do have access to the bankruptcy court's website and can look it up very easily. I can also tell you a few minor things to expect concerning the bankruptcy as a former employee of theirs.

Are you looking for software sysadmin w/ some programming as well? If so, how's your PHP? I actually just posted about a few open positions at my company, and one might be a fit for you. It's in Chicago, tho, and I'm not sure if you're looking to move.

The place where I work recently let one of their IT guys go, so that may be a place to check out. Their website doesn't mention they are hiring, but they're not very good about updating it, so I'd give it a shot.
