That is some pomegranate. The pomegranates that I buy at my local farmers market are smaller than the ones that I can get at the grocery store, but they have a higher ratio of seeds to pith. I wonder what that one will look like when you slice it open?

I saw some pretty big, deep red, and juicy ones at the San Francisco market recently. There did seem to be a lot of white pith as well, but neither my hosts nor I had had a conventional pomegranate recently enough for a reliable comparison. The seeds it did have were quite juicy.

But yeah, big fruit is often less flavorful (or flavor-diluted) fruit. I suppose since you don't eat pith anyway, it doesn't matter...

Oh and I read an article last night about how to use poms and stale Zinfindal as natural dyes...I may have to try this out.

At first I didn't see what the big deal was, and then I scrolled down and saw the dollar bill for scale.

Whoa!

Do tell what the verdict is on the flavor.
